The Cultural Village of Europe seeks to emphasise the importance of village life and it's culture in the 21st century and are looking for 20 people from each of the eleven European cultural villages to join them on a 12000 km journey of discovery through 21 European countries. A total of forty-seven villages will host the 'caravan' along the way.

The journey will start and finish from the village of Bystré in the Czech Republic and will take three months from the 1st June. Participants may join for 1,2 or 3 weeks at one of the nine boarding places along the way. Overnight accommodation will be in small tents or in the houses of the hosts.
The ‘Foundation Cultural Villages of Europe’ are the organisers of the expedition and each year they appoint the ‘Cultural Village of Europe’. The first Cultural Village was the Danish village of Tommerup. In 1999 the Dutch village of Wijk aan Zee was selected and last year Mellionnec, in France. This year it is the turn of the Czech village Bystré.
The planned route will be Bystré in the Czech Republic - Slowakia, Poland - Letvia, Lithuania - Kilingi Nomme, Estonia - Finland - Sweden - Tommerup, Denmark - Ströbeck, Germany - Wijk aan Zee, Holland - Aldeburgh, Great Britain - Belgium - Mellionnec, France - Porrua, Spain - France - Pergine Valdarno, Italy - Paxos, Greece - Bulgary, Romania - Palkonya, Hungary - returning to Bystré on the 2nd September.
